Nashua, NH – The University of Maine at Farmington field
hockey team jumped all over Rivier College early as the first goal
was scored just 3 minutes into the game. The goal turned out
to be the game winner as Farmington took a 5-0 lead into half time
and ended the day with a 7-0 victory.
Seven different players found the back of the net for the
Beavers en route to the 7-0 shutout. Lily Barry (Hermon, ME)
had the opening goal off an Annie Agnew (Guilford, ME) assist only
3 minutes into the game, followed up just four and a half minutes
later by an Emma Deans (Gorham, ME) goal. Deans had 1 goal
and assisted 2 others in the contest along with Kashley Weymouth
(Gardiner, ME), who also had a goal and 2 assists.
Rivier goal keeper Meghan Stephen (Pelham, NH)
allowed all 7 goals and made 9 saves while taking the loss.
Farmington keeper Felisha Taylor (Chelsea, ME) made no saves in the
win as the Raiders could muster just one shot that went wide of the
goal.
The Raiders, who fall to 1-10 (0-4 NAC) on the season will jump
back onto the field tomorrow, Sunday the 17th, in a 3:00
PM game against NAC opponent Thomas College. Farmington,
improving to 9-4 (4-1 NAC) will also play tomorrow, taking on
Castleton State College at 12:00 PM.
