Nashua, NH - The Terriers of Thomas College scored four second
half goals to beat the Raiders 6-1 today in NAC Women's Field
Hockey action.
The score remained tied at zero for most of the first half, but
at 29:29 the Terriers got on the board with their first
goal when Ally Kennedy (Readfield, ME) struck a shot that went off
the goal post, then hit the back of the Rivier goal keeper before
finding its way into the net. Thomas came again quickly into
the Raiders zone and scored again at 33:52 when Sarah Estes
(Brewer, ME) took a pass from Claire Wyman (Dexter, ME) to put the
Terriers up 2-0 heading into halftime.
The score remained 2-0 ten minutes into the second half until
Rivier's Lindsay
Rettenmeier (Ashford, CT) was able to get a shot
off after a Kristen Tyler (Thornton, NH) pass led her past the
defense. With the score now 2-1, the Terriers started
pressing harder and harder. Kennedy picked up her second goal
of the game on an unassisted play at 52:15, then just 30 seconds
later Brittany Moore (North Berwick, ME) picked up her first goal
of the game. Senior Kellie Martel (Cambridge, ME) added two
more goals in the final ten minutes to make the score 6-1 and give
the Terriers their 5th win of the season.
The Raiders were outshot 31-12 on the day, with 17 of Thomas' 31
shots being on goal. Rivier Goal keeper Meghan
Stephen (Pelham, NH) took the loss, giving up 6 goals
and recording 11 saves. Meanwhile, the duo of Megan Denby
(Copiague, NY) and Sophia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, NH) combined for
7 saves and only 1 goal allowed with Denby picking up the win.
The Raiders will take the field again on Wednesday as they host
Wheelock College at 5:00 PM.
