Thomas Adds Four Second Half Goals in 6-1 Win Over Rivier

Nashua, NH - The Terriers of Thomas College scored four second half goals to beat the Raiders 6-1 today in NAC Women's Field Hockey action.

The score remained tied at zero for most of the first half, but at 29:29 the Terriers got on the board with their first goal when Ally Kennedy (Readfield, ME) struck a shot that went off the goal post, then hit the back of the Rivier goal keeper before finding its way into the net.  Thomas came again quickly into the Raiders zone and scored again at 33:52 when Sarah Estes (Brewer, ME) took a pass from Claire Wyman (Dexter, ME) to put the Terriers up 2-0 heading into halftime.

The score remained 2-0 ten minutes into the second half until Rivier's Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, CT) was able to get a shot off after a Kristen Tyler (Thornton, NH) pass led her past the defense.  With the score now 2-1, the Terriers started pressing harder and harder.  Kennedy picked up her second goal of the game on an unassisted play at 52:15, then just 30 seconds later Brittany Moore (North Berwick, ME) picked up her first goal of the game.  Senior Kellie Martel (Cambridge, ME) added two more goals in the final ten minutes to make the score 6-1 and give the Terriers their 5th win of the season.

The Raiders were outshot 31-12 on the day, with 17 of Thomas' 31 shots being on goal. Rivier Goal keeper Meghan Stephen (Pelham, NH) took the loss, giving up 6 goals and recording 11 saves.  Meanwhile, the duo of Megan Denby (Copiague, NY) and Sophia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, NH) combined for 7 saves and only 1 goal allowed with Denby picking up the win.

The Raiders will take the field again on Wednesday as they host Wheelock College at 5:00 PM.
