Northfield, VT - Rivier College (9-8 overall; 3-0 GNAC) defeated
Albertus Magnus College and Norwich Academy to move to 3-0 in the
Great Northeast Athletic Conference standings. The Raiders utilized
their entire roster and swept AMC 3-0 and then went on to defeat
Norwich in a 5 set thriller despite being behind in all 5 games in
the match.
Senior Danielle Jacques led the way for RIV
with an 8 kill, 4 dig, 2 ace performance against the Falcons.
Sophomore Meghan Farrell played well with 8 digs
and 4 kills while freshmen libero Jessica Amaral
and setter Erin Sweeney paced all Raiders with 11
digs and 11 assists respectively. Fellow first year players
Morgan Peck and Elizabeth Hegarty helped out on offense with 3 kills apiece while
classmate Toni Bailon scooped up 3 digs. Freshman Megan Dudek and sophomore Christi Pratte led
all Raiders with 3 ace serves each.
In the second match of the day Rivier found themselves down in
all 5 sets but kept digging deep to pull out the win. Sophomore
Kenna Finlayson dropped an impressive 29 kills in
the 5 set battle while also picking up 12 digs for another double
double on the season. The outside hitter from Derry New Hampshire
also chipped in with 3 ace serves and 2 blocks. Junior setter
Lauren Saccoccio finished with a 45 assist, 2 ace,
5 dig performance while classmate Emileigh Cenedella passed well and led all Raiders with 23 digs.
Middle hitters Nicole Rodriguez and Nicole Peacock tallied 3 blocks apiece and scored a combined 13
kills. Caitlin Callahan played well with 9 digs,
Danielle Jacques had a team high 4 ace serves, and
Meghan Farrell put away 5 kills. Jessica
Amaral came up with some big passes and plays when the
Raiders needed it the most and helped out with 9 digs.

Rivier hopes to extend their GNAC win streak on Tuesday October
5 against Lasell College. Rivier will host the Lasers at The Doon
with a 7:00pm start time.
