Anna Maria 15 - Rivier 1
The Rivier Men's Lacrosse team competed in the programs first
ever game Wednesday evening at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA
losing the contest 15-1.
The entire team exhibited great poise, attitude and hustle
throughout the game as Anna Maria's size, speed and lacrosse skill
was challenged, but not matched by the inexperienced Raiders.
The Raiders were paced by freshman Randy Perrine
(Merrimack, N.H.) who scored the program's historic first
goal with 1:46 remaining in the fourth quarter. Perrine showed off
some outstanding dodging in the offensive zone while generating a
team high of 4 shots on goal. Sophomore Corey
Oliverio (Salem, N.H.) also played well, grabbing three
ground balls while winning 5-of-8 face-off attempts.
Freshman Matt Besaw (Glens Falls, NY) was
outstanding in the goal making 24 saves behind a budding zone
defense anchored by the inspired play of junior Matt Nims
(Weare, NH) and freshman Cody Roberts (Langdon,
NH)who picked up 4 Ground Balls each, as well
as Sean Figner (JR., Whitman, MA), and
Ben Drayton (SO., Haverhill, MA) who
grabbed 1 ground ball apiece for the Raiders.
Ian Reppucci (FR., Hull, MA), C.J. Becker (FR., Danvers,
MA), Pat Bruenn (FR. Meriden, CT) Justin Chenevert (FR. Tewksbury,
MA) and Jamie Roche (FR., Charlestown,
MA) helped propel the fledgling offense throughout the
game.
The 2010 Inaugural Men's Lacrosse season continues Saturday,
March 20th as the team travels to Bangor, Maine to face Husson
University in a 2pm game.
