No-11 Rivier College (11-1 GNAC; 25-8 overall) defeated Johnson
& Wales University in three straight sets to finish the GNAC
schedule with an 11-1 regular season record. The win allows the
Raiders to host the GNAC tournament for the third straight year at
The Muldoon. Andrew Paine (Quincy, MA) and
Francis Dallatore (Wilmington, DE) paced
Rivier's attack with 8 kills respectively followed closely by
Steve Wood (Spencerport, NY) with 6 kills and
John Furka (Massapequa, NY) and Tajh
Stokes (Salem, NH) both tallying 5 kills.
Freshman setter Jamison Chue (Newton,
MA) dished out 28 assists while leading the team
defense with 8 digs. Stokes led all blockers with 3 blocks and
libero Chris Convertito (Trumbull, CT) played
well with 5 digs.
The GNAC tournament will be Saturday March 27, in Nashua, and
game times will be 11:00am and 1:00pm for the semi-finals and
4:00pm for the championship match. Rivier will play the first
semi-final match at 11:00am.
