Nashua, NH- The Colby-Sawyer Chargers took
care of the Raiders with ease as they defeated the Raiders 20-5
thanks to Carter Malpass (Plymouth, MA)throwing 6 strong innings
while only allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Jeff Breslin
(Westford, MA) started the game off well for the Raiders
as he got the Chargers to go 1-2-3 in the first inning, then gave
up 6 runs on 7 hits in the second inning.
Senior
Chris Hunt (Lisbon, NH) scored the Raiders first
run as Aramiz Velez (Lowell, MA) got on by
an error thanks to by Tyler Stotz (Amesbury, MA)in the fourth
inning of the game. After a couple of quick innings for both
teams, the Chargers offense woke up as they scored 8 runs on 6 hits
in the 8th inning. The Raiders responded by
scoring 3 of their runs in the 8th inning as Pat
Brooks (Milford, NH), Ford Coats (Raymond, NH), and Velez
each got a hit in the inning. The Chargers added two more
runs in the 9th on a single by Shane Hoagboon (Mayfield,
MA). Brooks hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Ryan
O'Connor (Medford, MA) to cross the plate for the
Raiders final run in the game.
The
Raiders were lead by Velez and Freshman Art Hoffman
(Malden, MA) who each recorded 2 hits on the afternoon.
Hoagboon had a nice game for himself as he went 5-7
with 3 ribs and scored 4 runs in the game. Chris Hartley
(Billerica, MA), Brandon McFadden (E. Dummerston, VT), and Ryan
Ferris (Nashua, NH) each had two hits for the
Chargers.
The Raiders will start their conference play as they head to St.
Joes of Maine and Alberus Magnus for 4 games this weekend while the
Chargers will be playing Roger Williams and Anna Maria.
