Nashua, NH – Rivier
freshman middle hitter Taylor Lindner (Cheshire,
CT) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference
(GNAC) Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week for March 1
– March 7, 2010. Lindner helped the Raiders to a 4-2
week, including wins over two AVCA top 15 teams. For the
week, Lindner amassed 63 total kills and hit for a .382 percentage
along with racking up 31 blocks for a 1.35 blocks per game
average.
The Raiders started the week
with a 3-0 win over GNAC foe Lasell College. In the match,
Taylor had 7 kills with 0 errors on 13 attempts for a .538 hitting
percentage. He followed that performance up with a 13 kill
(.455 hitting percentage) showing against Emmanuel College in a 3-1
setback for the Raider squad. The Raiders bounced back
against Emerson College, their third GNAC opponent on the week,
where Lindner recorded 6 kills and only 1 error for a .417
percentage. From there, the Raiders headed to Rochester, NY
to take on #15 Nazareth College, and after a seven hour bus ride,
Lindner laced in 7 kills and 7 blocks to help the Raiders in a 3-1
victory. Up next was a five set thriller against Newbury
College in Buffalo, NY, Lindner recorded 16 kills and 8 blocks in
the 3-2 loss for the Raiders, but he wasn't done yet.
The Raiders concluded the weekend against #8 Medaille College in
Buffalo and after losing a 5 set thriller, the Raiders decided to
win one. Lindner recorded 14 kills with only 1 error on 25
attempts for a .520 hitting percentage and put back 7 blocks to
help the Raiders to a 3-2 win to finish the week.
