Nashua, NH- The Raiders were hoping to send seniors
Jenna Beadle (Rumney, NH) and Sara Wilson
(Stow, MA) off with a win in their final home game of the
season, but were no match for the #1 team in the GNAC as the St.
Joseph Monks (10-1-1, 7-1) defeated the Raiders (3-8, 2-5)
19-8.
The Monks offense set the tone early as they won 12 of the first
18 face-offs which led to many of their goals in the first
half. The Monks also outshot the Raiders 33-18 in the game
where they were able to put 19 of those shots in the back of the
net. The Raiders tightened up their defense in the second
half as they only allowed 5 goals and forced 6 turnovers, but
failed to get the offense going as they only got 8 shots off for 2
goals.
Freshman Lauren Brett (Otisfield, ME) won the
family battle against her older sister Jamie Brett (Otisfield, ME)
by scoring 4 goals in the contest while her sister got an
assist. Alyssa Renaud (Goffstown, NH) played
well for the Raiders as she was able to find the back of the net
twice for 2 points. Bridget Emerson (Goffstown,
NH) and Georgia Steese (Wilmot, NH)
rounded out the Raiders scoring as they each had one goal on the
night. Caliegh Bertolaccini (Chelmsford, MA)
did what she could against the Monks offense as she managed to make
7 saves after she replaced Lauren Hall (Pelham,
NH).
St. Joe's Midfielder Alyssa Marchant (Wakefield, MA) led
all scorers in the game as she had 5 goals in the game.
Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) had herself a game as she scored
3 goals and added a game high 3 assists for 6 total points on the
night as she is 1 point away for her 200th career point.
Goalie Taylor Allison (Pawtucket, RI) got her 9th win of
the season for the Monks as she made 4 stops against the
Raiders.
The Raiders look to continue their push for the playoffs as they
will head to Norwich for their final conference game of the season
on Sunday April 18, 2010 for a 1:00 PM start. St. Joe's
will battle Emerson on Saturday to see who will be the #1 seed for
the playoffs.
