Nashua, NH- Rivier's Women's Lacrosse team (2-4) got their
second win of the season as they took down non-conference rival
Daniel Webster (1-5) 14-11. With the game tied at 6 at the half,
the Raiders decided to put the pressure of the Eagles defense in
the second half as they scored 8 goals on 26 shots. The Raiders
defense also played well forced 9 turnovers and held the Eagles to
just 9 shots in the second half.
The Raiders were led by freshman attacker Lauren Brett
(Otisfield, ME) who had 5 goals and two assists on the
night. Midfielder Jordyn Reyes (Amesbury, MA) also
had a fine game as she put 3 balls in the back of net. The Eagles
were led by sophomore Natalie Bates (N. Kingstown, RI) who kept the
score close as she had a game high 8 goals and had the only assist
for the Eagles.
The Raiders just about doubled the Eagles shot-on-goal output as
Rivier got off 31 shots on goal compared to Daniel Webster's 16.
The Raiders goal keeper Caliegh Bertolaccini (Chelmsford,
MA) had 5 saves on the night while Eagles keeper Laura
Gianetti ( Ashburnham, MA) made 17 saves in the losing effort.
The Raiders will head to Newton, MA on Saturday April 10, 2010
as they take on the Mustangs of Mount Ida as they hope to move up
in the conference standings. The Eagles will host New England
College next Monday.
