Nashua, NH – Wheaton College scored 6 goals in the first
half and 8 in the second to defeat host school Rivier College 14-0
today in women's collegiate field hockey action. Wheaton controlled
the game from the first minute on as they posted their first goal
just 3:45 into the game and outshot the Raiders, who are in their
second season of varsity competition, 55-2 on the day.
Sophomore Nicole Hauswirth (Cranston, RI) took
the loss for the Raiders in goal. Nicole made 30 saves on the day,
but the bombardment of shots were too much as she gave up 14 goals.
Senior Erin Gatsas (Manchester, NH) and freshman
Kayla O'Reilly were the only two Raiders to get a
shot off in the game. Wheaton goal keeper Ellie Massengill
(Amherst, MA) picked up the victory, having to make only 1 save on
the day.
The Raiders will take on Gordon College on Thursday, September
16th at 7:00 PM at Rivier College in Nashua, NH.
