Nashua, NH - The Rivier College women's volleyball team split a
pair of non-conference matches today in Nashua, NH. The Raiders
opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Wentworth INstitute of
Technology befor efalling to Wesleyan University 3-1.
The first match saw the Raiders firing on all cylinders as they
easily handled the visiting Leopards by scores of 25-11, 25-14,
25-22. Senior's Danielle
Jacques (Derry, NH) and Nicole
Rodriguez (Newton, MA) led the Raiders with 6
kills each. Freshman libero Jessica
Amaral (E. Providence, RI) led all Raiders with 9 digs
while junior setter Caitlin
Callahan (Dedham, MA) chipped in with 18 assist
and 7 digs in the win.
For the Leopards, Julie Bruton (Montgomery, TX) and Julie
Rahilly (Nashua, NH) paved the way with 5 kills each while Rahilly
had a match high 12 digs.

The second match pitted the Raiders against Wesleyan University,
despite a slow, flat start, the Raiders were able to build
some momentum throughout the match. Losing 15-25 in set one,
the Raiders rebounded and played tough in match two, but fell just
short with a score of 23-25. Game three saw a Rivier team
that had not been seen yet in the match, with tough serving and
great defense, teh Raiders built a large lead and were able to
cruise to the 25-19 win. Wesleyan would bounce back and play
another tough set, and some serving miscues and unforced errors led
to a 21-25 loss for the Raiders. Wesleyan would take the
match 3-1.
Raiders sophomore Kenna
Finlayson (Derry, NH) led the offense with 14
kills while freshman Nicole
Peacock (Warwick, RI) was able to put together a
great effort with 6 kills and only 1 error on 14 attempts as well
as 5 total block. Junior Lauren
Saccoccio (Warwick, RI) ran the offense and
picked up 25 assists. Despite a rough outing, junior
libero Emileigh
Cenedella (Townsend, MA) lipped up 19 digs in the
losing effort.
Wesleyan outside hitter Casey Reed (Manhattan Beach,
CA) led all hitters with 16 kills in the match. Libero
Ruby Hernandez (West Palm Beach, FL) recorded a match high 23
digs and setter Laura Yim (San Mateo, CA) directed a well
balanced Wesleyan attack with 28 assists.
