(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's Lacrosse team (6 – 4, 1 – 1 GNAC) beat Anna Maria College (2 – 8, 0 – 2 GNAC) this afternoon in GNAC Conference play 11 – 3 at Raider Field. Rivier held a 1 – 0 lead after the 1st quarter. In the 2nd, the Raiders used a 4 – 1 run to take a 5 – 1 lead into the half time stanza. Anna Maria cut the lead to 5 -2 but that was as close as the visitors would get. Rivier outscored them 6 -2 to close out the game and wrap up the 11 – 3 GNAC Conference win.
Rivier was led on the day by Colby Larsen (SO, Windham, NH), 4 goals, 4 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls; and William Ryan (JR, Dorchester, MA) 3 goals, 7 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls. In goal, Matt Cloutman (SO, Peabody, MA) went the distance and had 10 saves on the night.
Anna Maria was paced by Brandon Pavoni, 1 goal, 3 shots on goal, and 4 ground balls; and Malik Griffith, 1 goal, 2 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls. The visiting Amcats were backstopped by 18 saves from the goalie.
Next up for the Raiders is a GNAC Conference game this Wednesday versus Saint Joseph's College (ME) at 7:00 pm at home. Anna Maria returns to action on Tuesday when they host Emmanuel College.
