NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's soccer team competed to a scoreless draw in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play against New England Col. on Tuesday evening at Merrill Field.
With the draw, the Raiders sit at 2-1-3 (0-1-2 GNAC) while the Pilgrims now hold a record of 2-2-2 (1-1-1 GNAC). The result halts a five-game skid against the Pilgrims for the Raiders.
The two teams exchanged opportunities in the first half with the best chance coming from the Pilgrims' Jack Labroad, but sophomore goalkeeper Logan Clough made a diving save that prevented New England Col. from taking a lead into halftime.
The Raiders came out of the break with emphasis, nearly finding the back of the net in the 54th minute when first-year Kamar Matthew-Murray was denied by the crossbar. Clough continued his heroics when he saved a Pilgrim penalty kick in the 75th minute to keep the game level. Neither team was able to produce a quality chance in the final minutes as the game ended without a victor.
Clough recorded three crucial saves in his third shutout of the season.
The Raiders return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 in a non-conference home matchup against Thomas (Me.) at Merrill Field. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
