NEWTON, Mass. – The Rivier field hockey team fell, 6-2, to Lasell in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday evening at Grellier Field
With the loss, the Raiders dropped to 0-0 (0-0 GNAC), while the lasers improved to 0-0 (0-0 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first frame was Lasers finding the back of the net four times.
- Brianna Spinelli scored the lone goal of the second quarter, 4-1.
- The Lasers extended their lead to four early in the third quarter
- Sophomore Kelsey Bain found the back of the net off a feed from Spinelli just shy of the midway point in the third, making it a 5-2 game
- Lasell tacked on one final final tally with just over three minutes remaining in the third
- Both teams played a scoreless fourth quarter with the Lasers holding on defensively, taking the contest 6-2
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Spinelli led the offense with eight shots, seven of which were on target and one goal
- Senior goalkeeper Lily Gifford recorded six saves in the outing
