NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's volleyball team fell in straight sets in a non-conference matchup against Plymouth St. Wednesday evening at the Muldoon Center.
With the loss, the Raiders fell to 6-9, while the Panthers improved to 11-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Plymouth St. opened the contest with an 8-3 run
- Rivier slowly chipped away at the Panthers' lead, cutting it to four
- The Panthers slowly regained their moment, regaining a five-point lead at 15-10
- A kill by junior Lacey Turner brought the Raiders within three, but Plymouth St. were able to hang on to that three-point advantage and claim the first set 25-19
- The Panthers continued to have success offensively, quickly gaining a 10-1 lead to begin the second set
- The Raiders rallied with four consecutive kills, two of which were by the hand of senior Callie Nanos, with Turner and sophomore Lily Seibel adding one each in the rally
- The Panthers regained control following a timeout midway through the frame and used that momentum to carry them to a 2-0 lead in the match
- Plymouth St. carried over its momentum into the third set, taking a 14-3 lead
- Back-to-back service aces from first-year Sofia Victal brought Rivier within nine; however, the Panthers' early lead gave them the boost they needed to seal the match, 25-12
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Nanos recorded a team-best four kills on a .333 hitting percentage
- Seibel tallied a double-double consisting of 14 assists and 11 digs
- As a team, Rivier out-blocked Plymouth St. 8-5
