Field Hockey Falls Short in Overtime Against Simmons, 2-1

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier field hockey team came up short in a 2–1 overtime loss to Simmons Wednesday night at Joanne Merrill Field. 

With that result, Simmons improved to 3-8 overall (3-4 GNAC), while Rivier moved to 2-10 (2-5 GNAC). 

HOW IT HAPPENED  

  • Simmons broke through at the 20:30 mark, capitalizing on a penalty stroke to take a 1-0 lead. 

  • First-year Kallie Frechette leveled the score late in regulation, finishing a setup from senior Reilly Swislosky with under five minutes to play for her first collegiate goal. 

  • The Sharks clinched the victory with the decisive goal just 49 seconds into the overtime period.  

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN  

  • Senior goalkeeper Lily Gifford finished with three saves for the Raiders  

  • Both teams finished deadlocked with 12 corners apiece  

  • The Sharks had the advantage in total shots, outshooting Rivier, 12-6

The Raiders return to Joanne Merrill Field on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. for a GNAC matchup against Dean College.
