Baseball Falls in GNAC Matchup at JWU (Providence)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rivier baseball team was downed by JWU (Providence) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex, falling by a final score of 12-2.

The Raiders fell to 11-16 (6-7 GNAC) while the host Wildcats improved to 20-11 (11-2 GNAC).

Leading 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, JWU put up seven runs in the frame to make it a 11-0 lead.

Rivier was able to put a pair on the board in the seventh with solo homers off the bats of senior JD Normand and sophomore Sebastien Reis. The Wildcats walked it off in the bottom half to secure the run rule victory.

Seven different Raiders recorded base hits in the defeat.

Rivier is back home on Wednesday, April 23 for a non-conference game against Nichols with first pitch from Harvey Woods Field set for 3:00 p.m.
