Baseball Tops Colby-Sawyer in Extras, 6-5, Earns Spot in GNAC Tournament

NASHUA, N.H. – Sophomore Sebastien Reis walked it off for the Rivier baseball team in the 13th inning of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash against Colby-Sawyer at Harvey Woods Field on Monday afternoon to earn a 6-5 victory and a place in the GNAC Tournament for the first time since 2023.

The Raiders improved to 13-17 (8-7 GNAC) while the Chargers dropped to 13-23 (7-8 GNAC).

Colby-Sawyer got on the board first in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead.

Rivier took its first lead of the contest in the following inning, as senior JD Normand sent a two RBI single to right center to make it a 2-1 game.

In the top of the fourth, the Chargers tied the game after executing a double steal of second and home.

The Raiders regained a one-run lead in the bottom of the fifth as junior Nathan Innerfield scored first year Jayce Martinez on a sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 3-2.

In the next inning, Rivier scored twice as Reis doubled to left to score a run before junior Owen Medlock's single up the middle scored him to make it 5-2 in favor of the hosts.

Junior closer Ty Baker came in with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the seventh an allowed a bases-clearing double as the Chargers tied the game.

Neither team would score until a ball launched towards the fence in right scored senior Luis Tejada to secure the victory, 6-5.

Baker threw a career-high 6.2 innings to earn his first win of the season, striking out three batters faced. Senior lefty Nate Bonacorsi got the no decision despite a solid 6.1 innings of work in which he struck out three Charger batters.

Normand and Reis racked up two hits apiece as the squad recorded nine in the contest.

Rivier and Colby-Sawyer will now play the rubber match of today's scheduled doubleheader on Tuesday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. back at Harvey Woods Field.
