NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's volleyball team earned the fifth seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament and will head to Regis (Mass.) to take on the fourth-seeded Pride on Tuesday night at Higgins Court.
The Raiders finished 11-16 (6-8 GNAC) following the completion of the regular season while the Pride went 19-11 (7-7 GNAC). Regis defeated Rivier in both of this season's head-to-head matchups, winning both contests in four sets.
Sophomore Tyler Dickinson produced a .372 hitting percentage with 111 kills on the season while leading the team with .89 blocks per set. Senior Bassam Awde was second on the squad with .79 blocks per set and a .284 hitting percentage with 140 kills.
Junior Matthew McCloskey hit .249 on the season, notching 2.25 kills per set. Both Awde and McCloskey lead the team with 23 service aces.
Sophomore Luis Castillo anchored the Rivier defense with 1.87 digs per set from the libero position. Classmate Racine Camara posted a .942 reception percentage with 1.75 digs per set and 2.71 kills per set.
The Pride's top performers from the team include senior setter Tyrell Bucasas, who has posted 8.45 assists per set, and junior outside hitter Jalen Watt whose 2.36 kills per set came at a .228 clip. Junior middle John Nangle posted a .343 hitting percentage, the highest among starters, at a 1.71 kills per set rate.
Rivier is 14-2 all-time against Regis dating back to the 2016 season. In road matchups in Weston, Rivier is 5-1.
The winner of Tuesday night's match will head to No. 1 seed Wentworth for a semifinal-round matchup on Thursday, April 10.
