NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's soccer team came up short in a non-conference bout with the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), 1-0, Wednesday evening at Joanne Merrill Field.
With the loss, the Raiders fell to 0-2-2, while the Trailblazers boosted their record to 2-2-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams opened the contest with two shots apiece and this would continue throughout the opening half
- Rivier held the slight edge in shots, 9-5, but with neither squad able to find the back of the net, the game remained at a stalemate entering the half
- Coming out of the half, the Raiders controlled the pace of play, rattling off five shots including first-year Kayky Silva striking the woodwork for Rivier's best chance of the game
- MCLA broke the deadlock in the 78th minutes on a firm strike from outside the 18-yard box
- Despite a late comeback from Rivier, the Trailblazers' defense held strong to secure the match, 1-0
