Field Hockey Blanks Albertus Magnus, 7-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Rivier field hockey team shutout Albertus Magnus, 7-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday evening at Celentano Field. Three Raiders found the back of the net to secure their first win of their 2025 campaign.  

With the result, the Raiders improved to 1-6 on the season (1-1 GNAC), while the Falcons fell to 0-6 (0-3 GNAC). 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Senior Reilly Swislosky opened the scoring for the Raiders at the eight-minute mark. 

  • The second quarter concluded scoreless, despite equal opportunities on both ends of the field. 

  • Rivier opened the flood gates in the third quarter scoring five goals in a seven-minute span. 

  • Junior Brianna Spinelli tallied three goals, with Swislosky adding one more in the third quarter, while sophomore Kelsey Bain tallied an assist and a goal of her own. 

  • Rivier capped the scoring with a little over six minutes left to play as Bain found the back of the net for the second time in the contest. 

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN 

  • Swislosky recorded a team high six shots, with five shots on target knocking in three.  

  • Four Rivier players recorded a multi-point game 

  • The Raiders led shots on goal, 12-3. 

  • Senior goalkeeper Lily Gifford totaled three saves for the first clean sheet of the season 

  • The Raiders held the advantage in corners, 12-2.

The Raiders return home to Joanne Merrill Field for a GNAC match-up against the Pride of Regis College, on Wednesday, Sept. 24th at 7:00 p.m.
