NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier field hockey team secured its first home victory of the season by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup with Regis (Mass.) at Joanne Merrill Field.
With the result, the Raiders improved to 2-6 overall (2-1 GNAC), while the Pride dropped to 2-5 (0-3 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute, as Mary Kelley's corner delivery found Reilly Swislosky, who set up Shaelyn Burke for the score.
- The Raiders doubled their lead in the second quarter as Junior Brianna Spinelli tipped in the ball from a feed from first-year Lexi Davies, 2-0.
- Rivier outshot the Pride 3-0 in the third quarter, but was unable to capitalize.
- The Pride narrowed the gap in the fourth quarter but came up short, ending 2-1.
