NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's ice hockey charged past Framingham St. 5-2 in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play on Saturday night at Conway Arena.
With the result, the Raiders improved to12-6-0 (7-2-0 MASCAC), while the Rams dropped to 2-13-1 (1-6-0 MASCAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- First-year Chloe Bryda opened scoring for the Raiders at the 10:40 mark with the assist awarded to classmate Marina Bassett.
- The Rams found the tying tally 30 seconds into the second frame.
- Senior Olivia Schultz capitalized on the power play at 7:01, finishing a setup from Bryda to restore the Raiders' lead, 2-1.
- Framingham struck again eight minutes later to level the score.
- The Raiders outshot the Rams 6-3 over the final three minutes of play but were unable to capitalize, sending the game into the final frame knotted 2-2.
- Sophomore Lillian Wojcicki sparked the Raiders' offense, burying a rebound 34 seconds in to regain the lead.
- At the 4:58 mark, first-year Lexi Davies converted on the power play, linking up with senior Jessica Driscoll to put Rivier up a pair, 4-2.
- Bryda danced past two defenders before firing home her second of the night at the 7:51 mark, assisted by senior Molly Dukesherer and sophomore Alexa Vencill, to cap the scoring.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Rivier outshot Framingham 50-35.
- Bryda paced the offense with two goals and an assist, tying Wojcicki for the team high with seven shots.
- The Raiders controlled faceoffs 32-23.
