WATERVILLE, Maine – The Rivier field hockey team fell to non-conference opponent Thomas (Me.), 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Bernatchez Field.
With the result, the Raiders dropped to 2-3, while the Terriers improved to 2-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams traded chances early before sophomore Camdyn Despres opened the scoring with an unassisted tally just over four minutes into the contest. Thomas (Me.) answered shortly after, leveling the score with under 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Terriers recorded the lone shot over the remainder of the quarter, leaving the score tied heading into the second.
- Thomas (Me.) took its first lead of the afternoon 4:47 into the second stanza. Just before halftime, Despres knotted things up at two with her second goal of the afternoon.
- The Terriers controlled the pace of play in the third quarter, retaking the lead, 3-2, while holding Rivier scoreless in the frame.
- Thomas (Me.) doubled its lead 25 seconds into the fourth quarter. With just under 10 minutes remaining, senior Brianna Spinelli cut the deficit to one with her first goal of the afternoon and fourth of the season. One shot was recorded down the stretch as the Terriers secured the 4-3 victory.

- First-year Lauren Bailey and Despres led the team with four shots each.
- First-year goalkeeper Tatum Flanagan made a career-high 10 saves in between the posts for the Raiders.
