WORCESTER, Mass. – The Rivier field hockey team fell to non-conference opponent Clark, 3-2, Tuesday evening at the Granger Athletic Center.
With the loss, the Raiders dropped to 3-7, while the Cougars improved to 5-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier pushed the pace in the opening minutes of the contest, recording two quick shots. Clark countered with a lengthy offensive possession, earning two penalty corners and logging three shots. Both teams traded chances down the stretch, but neither side was able to convert, leaving both sides scoreless after the first 15 minutes of action.
- The Cougars broke the deadlock 3:17 into the second quarter, capitalizing on a penalty corner. Clark doubled its advantage with 1:01 to play in the first half.
- Coming out of the break, sophomore Camdyn Despres found junior Kelsey Bain to trim the Raiders' deficit to one. Just under four minutes later, the Cougars regained their two-goal edge.
- Following a back-and-forth affair to being the fourth quarter, sophomore Lexi Davies connected with senior Brianna Spinelli to make it a one goal game. Davies added a shot late that was turned aside before Clark maintained possession, running out the clock to secure the 3-2 victory.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- First-year goalkeeper Tatum Flanagan made 13 saves in net for Rivier.
- Spinelli paced the offense with five shots, followed by Despres and Davies with four apiece.

The Raiders return to the field Saturday, Oct. 3 for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup with Simmons. The contest is set for 11:00 a.m. at Daly Field.
