Mason Schultz and first-year
Andrew Nee have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Schultz recorded 19 points on 15 goals and four assists, while also adding nine ground balls and five caused turnovers during a perfect 3-0 (2-0 GNAC) week for the Raiders. The Townsend, Mass. product opened the week with five goals and one assist in an 18-4 win over non-conference opponent Salem State. Schultz continued his strong play in the midweek matchup against Colby-Sawyer, posting seven points (6 goals, 1 assist) in a dominant 25-0 shutout of the Chargers. He capped the week with four goals and two assists in a 21-2 victory over Albertus Magnus.
Nee also turned in a standout week, totaling 13 points on 12 goals and one assist, while collecting 12 ground balls. The Wareham, Mass. product scored six goals, including a man-up tally, against Salem State. He followed that performance with two goals and four ground balls versus Colby-Sawyer before closing the week with four goals and an assist against Albertus Magnus.
Schultz, Nee, and the Rivier men's lacrosse team return to action Wednesday, March 25, for a GNAC matchup with Regis (Mass.) The opening faceoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Joanne Merrill Field.
