WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Owen McDuffie and sophomore Jake Lydon have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, announced Monday afternoon.
McDuffie earned his first Player of the Week honor of the season after collecting 24 ground balls and going 30-for-38 (78.9%) in the faceoff circle across two games. The Gray, Maine native posted six ground balls and went 11-for-17 in the circle in the Raiders' 11-7 win over Saint Joseph (Conn.). He followed that performance with a career-high 18 ground balls and a dominant 19-for-21 showing on faceoffs in a 13-6 victory against Emmanuel.
Lydon secured his sixth Goalkeeper of the Week award after totaling 21 saves, a .647 save percentage, and scoring one goal on the week. The Rowley, Mass. native recorded a .722 save percentage with 13 saves against Saint Joseph's (Maine), then added eight more stops for a .571 save percentage in the win over Emmanuel.
McDuffie, Lydon, and the Raiders open postseason play on Saturday, April 25, in the GNAC Quarterfinals. Opening faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m. at Joanne Merrill Field.
