NASHUA, N.H. - The Rivier men's soccer team hosted Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent, New England College, this evening at Joanne Merrill Field. The Raiders took a 1-0 victory over the Pilgrims to mark their fifth consecutive GNAC win. 

With the result, the Raiders improved to a record of 8-6-2 (6-3-1 GNAC), while the Pilgrims fell to 5-7-3 (1-6-3 GNAC). 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Both teams battled through a scoreless first half. The Raiders controlled the pace of play for the majority of the opening frame, outshooting the Pilgrims 6-4. 

• Coming back from the break, Rivier continued to dominate their offensive half, adding four shots through the opening 30 minutes of action. 

• Just shy of the 76th minute, senior defender Andrew Lennox found twine off two quick assists from junior defender Luiggi Ferreira and first year forward Kai Schrepfer to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. 

• Despite chances, Rivier was unable to add an insurance goal, but were able to hold on and end the night with a conference victory. 

BOXSCORE BREAKDOWN 

• The Raiders controlled the match offensively, outshooting NEC 17-4 (5-1 SOG) and holding the Pilgrims without a shot in the second half. 

• Rivier consistently applied pressure, earning a 14-3 advantage in corner kicks, including eight corners in the second half. 

• Junior Matthews Ferreira led the team in total shots, recording four.  

• Graduate student AJ Deyarmin earned his second consecutive shutout.

Men's Soccer remains at Joanne Merrill Field for their last home game of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 24th for another GNAC tilt against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
